Join us for a wonderful time of worship, prayer, and pressing into God's presence! After second service on Sunday, April 28th, we'll have an extended time of praise & worship, followed by some time of teaching, prayer, and Holy Spirit ministry. This is an opportunity to press into the deeper things of God and allow the Spirit to move on our hearts. We come with the hopeful expectation that God will meet us powerfully.

LIC Community Town Hall

  • 37-15 13th Street Long Island City, NY, 11101 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

We often preach about loving our neighbor and community. God blesses us with opportunities every day personally, but we have fewer moments to show this love collectively. This community event represents one of those collective moments where we can join with our community partners and neighbors to love by listening and also share concerns around housing, affordability, and the future of Western Queens. This city should be a home for all. Hope Justice has partnered with local community-based organizations that care & advocate for the people (Justice for All Coalition, Racial Impact Study Coalition, Ravenswood Resident Association, Queensbridge Residents Association, and Western Queens Community Landtrust) to organize a Community Townhall for all to be heard. Learn about how city planning actually works, and be part of a community process that will make sure the City hears you loud and clear! Lunch will be served, and we will have a space to keep your kids entertained so you can focus on voicing your ideas.

Saturday, 3/23, from 1-3 pm Community School 111 @ 37-15 13th St, Long Island City, NY 11101

10 Days of Fasting and Prayer

10 DAYS OF FASTING & PRAYER: A TIME OF CONSECRATION, THURSDAY, MARCH 21ST - SATURDAY, MARCH 30TH

Our church is setting aside ten days from Thursday, March 21st through Saturday, March 30th as a special time of fasting and prayer.  We hope one and all will join us in intentionally engaging in these practices during this special season!  On Easter Sunday, March 31st we'll break our fast and celebrate together our resurrected Lord!

The purpose of these 10 days is to consecrate ourselves to God. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines consecration this way: “to officially promise to give one's time and attention to something.”

During this time of consecration, we fast and pray, not because we seek God’s hand to accomplish something for us and not to earn his love. Indeed, God loves us to the utmost already - as he showed us on the cross!  Rather, we deny ourselves in fasting and we engage intentionally in prayer, because we desire to train our hearts to focus on God before everything else. Read more about why we're engaging in this special week and the benefits of participating here.

WHAT AM I INVITED TO DO?

  • Decide how you will fast

  • Set aside time to pray

  • Engage with community (small group)

Check out our 10 days on our website for more resources that will help you to fast, pray, and connect with a small group in this special season! Additionally, we have created a prayer journal with daily devotionals for these 10 days (a printed devotional book is available free of charge at our Sunday services during the month of March). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Pastor Kris (kristian@hopeastoria.org) or Pastor Denise (denise@hopeastoria.org). We hope you’ll join us in what we expect will be a powerful time for us personally and collectively with the Lord!

Men's & Women's Discipleship Groups!

Info Sessions Men: Mon Jan 22 or Mon Jan 29, Women: Tues Jan 30 or Wed Jan 31

Living out our faith as disciples of Jesus is very different than just believing in Jesus. It's actually possible to believe in Jesus, but not be his disciple. A disciple not only believes in Jesus, but they intentionally structure their lives around the idea of fully following Jesus, being with Jesus and growing in his likeness.

In order to provide encouragement and support for our church to grow in discipleship Pastor Kris is forming a Men's Discipleship Group and a Women's Discipleship Group. Our prayer is that through these groups men and women in our church will deepen their discipleship as together we grow in love, obedience, and fellowship with Jesus.

These groups will take place on weekly Monday mornings over Zoom from 7 A.M. to 8 A.M. The Men's Discipleship Group will take place on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. The Women's Discipleship Group will take place on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month.

Interested? Want to hear more of the vision for these groups? Have questions? Please join an Info Session.
