As some of you may know, over the past year the Hope Justice team has engaged in conversations around social justice, sparking a two-phase Hope Justice Initiative campaign.
Phase One - Hearing the hearts of our brothers and sisters within the church through the “Know Our Neighbor” campaign. Through this effort, we have been able to learn more about our church identity.
Phase Two - We are now shifting our direction outward and seeking to highlight the issues impacting our neighbors. We asked ourselves, “How can we make our community a better place?” The answer was simple: ask the community.
We had our first Community Town Hall Meeting on November 13th, 2019 and we want to thank you for your prayers and support. We were able to converse with members of the community and highlight issues affecting families in Astoria. We invite you to join us at our second Community Town Hall Meeting.
Hope Justice Community Town Hall:
A Tale of Two Cities - How can we combat economic inequality?
Date: Wednesday, March 18th, 2020
Time: 6:45 pm - 9:00 pm (Doors open at 6:30 pm)
Where: Legal Outreach, 36-14 35th St, Queens, NY 11106
Join us in an open dialogue to identify issues around economic inequality in our community, and offer your perspective to help find solutions together. We believe every voice matters. We’d love to hear yours! We seek to provide a safe space and platform, free of judgment and open to conversation, where members of the Astoria community can come together and share what’s on their hearts. The meeting will give an opportunity to hear from community leaders and discuss issues we’d like to see addressed. We hope you will join us in this collaborative effort to see residents of Astoria and beyond thrive.
We plan on hosting one more additional town hall to create a space for conversations on resident affairs in Astoria.
We ask for your prayers over the next month for each member of the Hope Justice team, for families experiencing injustices in Astoria and over the work God is already doing in Astoria and will do through the Community Town Hall.
